Nanning, Guangxi (China News Service) — Leveraging the cultural festivities of Guangxi’s March 3rd Festival and the region’s strategic proximity to Southeast Asia, Guangxi and Hong Kong are collaborating to attract tourists from ASEAN countries. This initiative aims to create unique tourism experiences that combine mainland China exploration with cross-border adventures into Southeast Asia.

Currently, Guangxi and Hong Kong enjoy close cooperation and exchange in cultural tourism, said Zhang Xiaokui, Executive Vice President of the Nanning City Federation of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Compatriots, in an interview on the evening of March 14th. Taking advantage of Guangxi’s proximity to ASEAN and the ‘March 3rd’ Festival, Hong Kong tourists can experience distinctive tourism products such as tours to the China-Vietnam border, achieving a dual experience of traveling north into the mainland and cross-border travel to ASEAN.

The March 3rd Festival, a traditional festival celebrated by ethnic minorities in Guangxi, offers a vibrant display of local culture, including folk songs, dances, and traditional crafts. By combining this cultural richness with Hong Kong’s international connections and Guangxi’s geographical advantage, the partnership aims to create attractive tourism packages for ASEAN visitors.

This collaborative effort not only promotes tourism but also strengthens cultural and economic ties between Guangxi, Hong Kong, and ASEAN countries. The initiative is expected to boost local economies, foster cross-cultural understanding, and create new opportunities for tourism development in the region.

The partnership highlights the potential of leveraging regional strengths and cultural heritage to attract international tourists. As Guangxi continues to develop its tourism industry, collaboration with Hong Kong and engagement with ASEAN countries will play a crucial role in its success. This initiative serves as a model for future collaborations that promote regional tourism and cultural exchange.
