Hangzhou, China – In a move signaling a significant shift in the AI landscape, Alibaba Group has officially launched its AI flagship application, New Quark. Announced on March 13th, the revamped Quark browser is powered by Alibaba’s Tongyi series, leveraging its advanced reasoning and multimodal large language models to transform into a boundless AI Super Box, promising a completely new experience for its 200 million users.

This upgrade marks a departure from traditional search, positioning New Quark as an all-in-one AI hub designed to cater to users’ diverse needs across work, study, and daily life. Alibaba has committed to integrating the latest advancements from its Tongyi models into Quark, ensuring users have access to cutting-edge AI capabilities.

While the current market is dominated by chatbot-style AI products, Quark aims to go further by integrating AI dialogue, in-depth thinking, advanced search, research capabilities, and task execution into a single, streamlined AI Super Box. Users can simply input instructions into the box, and Quark’s intelligent central processing unit will automatically identify the intent, plan the execution, and orchestrate various models and agent modules to complete the task.

Currently, New Quark offers solutions across a wide range of scenarios, including AI search, AI writing, AI image generation, AI-powered PPT creation, academic research assistance, AI-driven homework help, AI health Q&A, and travel planning.

This upgraded version is just the beginning of the new Quark, stated Wu Jia, Vice President of Alibaba Group and CEO of Quark. As model capabilities continue to iterate and upgrade in the future, we hope the Quark AI Super Box will be like Doraemon’s pocket, allowing users to enter the AI world here.

The announcement comes on the heels of Alibaba Group CEO Wu Yongming’s recent earnings call, underscoring the company’s strategic focus on AI as a key driver of future growth. The launch of New Quark demonstrates Alibaba’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of AI applications and integrating them seamlessly into the daily lives of its users. The AI Super Box concept represents a bold vision for the future of search and information access, potentially reshaping how users interact with the digital world.
