Beijing, March 13, 2024 – In a move poised to revolutionize the landscape of robotics research and education, Ubtech Robotics, in collaboration with the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, unveiled the Tiantian Walker (天工行者), a full-size research and educational humanoid robot priced at a groundbreaking 299,000 RMB (approximately $41,500 USD). This launch significantly undercuts existing market prices for comparable full-size robots, which typically exceed 500,000 RMB, promising to democratize access to advanced robotics platforms for researchers and educators.

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Embodied Intelligence has fueled significant interest in humanoid robots, recognized as ideal platforms for exploring and developing these technologies. These robots offer unparalleled opportunities for scientific research and higher education, enabling the study of complex interactions between hardware and software in a real-world context.

Ubtech and the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center identified a critical gap in the market through extensive surveys of over a thousand universities, research institutions, and application development organizations. They found a strong preference for full-size (over 1.6 meters) humanoid robots, which offer greater research potential compared to smaller, mid-size models (1.1-1.3 meters) with limited customizability. However, the high cost, limited open-source availability, and scarcity of real-world scenario data have hindered the widespread adoption of full-size humanoid robots in research and education.

The Tiantian Walker directly addresses these challenges. By offering a full-size, research-grade humanoid robot at a significantly lower price point, Ubtech and the Innovation Center aim to break down the barriers to entry and foster innovation in the field. This robot integrates a wide range of disciplines, including machine learning, natural language processing, motion control, and neural networks, making it a versatile platform for exploring diverse research topics.

Tiantian Walker is now available for pre-order and is expected to begin delivery in the second quarter of this year. Its launch is expected to reshape the research and education ecosystem for humanoid robots, paving the way for more widespread adoption and accelerating advancements in AI and embodied intelligence.

Conclusion:

The introduction of the Tiantian Walker represents a significant step forward in making advanced robotics technology more accessible. By offering a high-performance, full-size humanoid robot at an unprecedented price, Ubtech and the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center are poised to democratize research and education in this critical field, potentially unlocking new breakthroughs and applications in AI and embodied intelligence. This move could significantly impact the future of robotics and its role in various industries and academic disciplines.
