Beijing – Xiaomi Auto has officially announced the full rollout of its end-to-end (E2E) autonomous driving system (HAD) via the Xiaomi HyperOS 1.5.5 update. This comprehensive update promises to deliver intelligent parking and seamless navigation across a wide range of complex urban environments.

The announcement, made on February 25th, came as a response to user inquiries (Q&A Session #109) regarding the highly anticipated update. According to Xiaomi Auto, the HyperOS 1.5.5 update, featuring the E2E autonomous driving capabilities, is being progressively pushed to all users.

What Makes Xiaomi’s End-to-End Autonomous Driving Stand Out?

Xiaomi is touting several key advantages of its E2E HAD system:

  • Seamless Integration: The system seamlessly connects driving and parking functionalities, enabling intelligent driving from the moment the car starts. This integration aims to provide a more cohesive and consistent user experience.

  • User Data-Driven Training: Unlike traditional map-reliant systems, Xiaomi’s E2E system incorporates user driving data for training. This allows the system to adapt to real-world driving conditions, resulting in more human-like trajectories, efficient navigation, and enhanced safety.

    • Enhanced Safety: The E2E model incorporates a multi-dimensional evaluation mechanism that continuously assesses the safety of the planned trajectory. This ensures a high level of safety, especially in complex scenarios involving two-wheeled vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Advanced Scene Recognition: The system utilizes Visual Language Modeling (VLM) to identify and provide alerts for various road environments, including unmarked intersections and emergency vehicles. It also recognizes and alerts drivers to specific traffic regulations, such as reversible lanes and school zones.

Full-Scenario Coverage

Xiaomi claims that its E2E autonomous driving system comprehensively covers highways, urban expressways, complex city roads, and pre-learned parking scenarios. The system aims to provide a seamless assisted driving experience from the moment the vehicle starts in a parking space, through public roads, and until it autonomously parks in the target parking space.

Key Differences from the Pioneer Version

The full rollout version of the E2E system features adjustments to the Remote Parking function compared to the previously released pioneer version. Specifically, the system will now automatically engage the P (Park) gear. The remote parking function offers two modes:

  • Door-Closed Parking: The user initiates the parking process from inside the vehicle.
  • External Confirmation Parking: The user can confirm the parking process from outside the vehicle.

To use the remote parking function, drivers must navigate to the target parking area, select the desired parking space, depress the brake pedal, and tap the Remote Parking button on the in-car screen. The system will automatically engage the P gear, and after reviewing the safety instructions, the user can select their preferred remote parking mode.
