Seoul, South Korea – South Korea’s acting President and Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Finance, Choi Sang-mok, met with Czech Republic’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Jozef Síkela, on February 18th to discuss potential collaborations in the economic sphere, with a particular focus on nuclear energy.
The meeting, held in Sejong, underscores the continued diplomatic and economic engagement of South Korea despite the current political transition. Choi emphasized the stability of the South Korean government and expressed the country’s desire for the smooth progression of cooperative projects, including the Dukovany nuclear power plant construction.
Choi further proposed that both nations explore establishing a comprehensive collaborative framework encompassing technology development and talent cultivation within the nuclear energy sector. He also advocated for expanding bilateral trade and investment between South Korea and the Czech Republic.
Síkela responded positively, expressing the Czech Republic’s aspiration for strengthened friendly cooperation between the two countries throughout the year. He also conveyed his anticipation for continued partnerships with South Korean nuclear power and battery companies.
