Beijing, February 17, 2024 – Tencent Games officially announced today that recruitment for the second closed beta test, dubbed the Wait Duck Test, for its highly anticipated game, Rock Kingdom: World, will commence on February 20th. This announcement marks a significant step forward in the development of the title, a sequel to the beloved Rock Kingdom IP.

Rock Kingdom: World, developed in-house by Tencent’s Morefun Studios Group, ventures into the popular open-world genre. The game immerses players in a magical world where humans and spirits coexist. Players assume the role of a new student at an academy, embarking on an adventure to unravel the mysteries of the world through forging bonds with spirits.

The core gameplay revolves around capturing and nurturing spirits, strategically building teams, and engaging in turn-based battles. Tencent aims to create a new Rock Kingdom experience filled with adventure and anticipation for its 400 million loyal fans.

According to a statement released by the game’s official team in January, the second closed beta test, initially slated for recruitment at the end of February 2025, is now scheduled to begin in March. The team also indicated plans to increase the number of test slots available and refine the allocation rules for test accounts.

As previously reported by IT Home, Rock Kingdom: World secured its game license in June of last year (one of 104 games approved that month). Following the license approval, a limited, non-paying closed beta test called the Hurry Duck Test was conducted in August, exclusively for iOS devices.

Conclusion:

The upcoming Wait Duck Test for Rock Kingdom: World represents a crucial phase in the game’s development. With its open-world gameplay, focus on spirit collection and strategic battles, and the strong legacy of the Rock Kingdom IP, the game holds considerable promise. The increased availability of test slots and refined allocation rules suggest Tencent’s commitment to gathering valuable player feedback and ensuring a polished final product. The gaming community, particularly the long-time fans of Rock Kingdom, will undoubtedly be eagerly awaiting the opportunity to experience this new iteration of the beloved franchise.
