Beijing, February 13, 2024 – Zeekr’s legal department has issued a formal statement refuting recent online rumors alleging that Weiran Motors, a key supplier, utilizes handmade stator winding in its electric motor production. The statement, released today, also addresses the circulation of purported factory images, labeling them as inaccurate and misleading.
The electric vehicle (EV) market is increasingly competitive, and the quality and reliability of components like electric motors are paramount. The online allegations, if left unaddressed, could significantly damage the reputation of both Weiran Motors and Zeekr, a rising star in the Chinese EV sector.
According to the official statement, the circulating images are not representative of Weiran Motors’ actual production environment. The photos, Zeekr claims, were taken during a factory relocation of Changzhou Longnai Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd., a former pilot supplier of sample parts to Weiran, and not a current mass production supplier. Zeekr emphasizes that all approved suppliers must undergo IATF16949 quality system certification.
The statement further alleges that the individual who took the photos is a former employee of Changzhou Longnai Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. Zeekr accuses the former employee of illegally taking the pictures and fabricating false information through selective and misleading representation, potentially violating commercial secrets and damaging business reputation. Changzhou Longnai Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. has reportedly filed a police report and intends to pursue legal action against the individual.
Weiran always adheres to the principles of ‘safety first, quality first’, the statement asserts. Taking stator winding technology as an example, Weiran uses automatic winding equipment for production. The alleged ‘handmade stator winding’ is simply not true and defies common sense. Zeekr further emphasizes the stringent quality control measures in place throughout Weiran’s production process, ensuring that all products meet national quality system certification standards. The company has extended an open invitation to the public to visit the Weiran factory and witness its automated production systems and industry-leading quality standards.
Zeekr’s legal department has vowed to take all necessary legal measures to pursue those who intentionally distort facts, spread false information, and infringe upon the brand’s reputation. The company urges the public to exercise discernment, refrain from believing or spreading rumors, and to rely on verified information.
This incident highlights the increasing importance of combating misinformation in the rapidly evolving EV industry. As competition intensifies, companies are becoming more vigilant in protecting their brand reputation and intellectual property. Zeekr’s swift and decisive response underscores its commitment to transparency and quality, aiming to reassure consumers and maintain its position in the competitive EV market.
