Cupertino, CA – February 11, 2025 – Apple’s Beats by Dre has officially announced the Powerbeats Pro 2, the highly anticipated successor to its popular workout-focused wireless earbuds. The new model boasts a significant upgrade with the inclusion of Apple’s H2 chip, along with a suite of new features including active noise cancellation (ANC), transparency mode, adaptive EQ, spatial audio, and, notably, integrated heart rate monitoring. The Powerbeats Pro 2 will retail for ¥2099 in China.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 comes in four color options: Purple, Orange, Grey, and Black. Designed for active lifestyles, the earbuds maintain an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance. Beats has also refined the ear hook design, utilizing a nickel-titanium alloy wire for enhanced comfort and a 20% weight reduction, bringing each earbud down to a mere 8.7 grams. To ensure a secure and personalized fit, the Powerbeats Pro 2 includes five different ear tip sizes: extra-small, small, medium (pre-installed), large, and extra-large.
Beyond comfort, Beats emphasizes acoustic performance. The Powerbeats Pro 2 features a custom-designed acoustic architecture with a ventilated design that creates a balanced pressure environment between the front and rear acoustic chambers. This design is intended to deliver a richer, more immersive listening experience.
A key upgrade lies in the inclusion of upgraded digital voice microphones, enabling the new active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency mode features. The adaptive EQ functionality dynamically adjusts the sound profile to optimize audio quality based on the surrounding environment.
Perhaps the most groundbreaking addition is the integrated heart rate monitoring sensor, making the Powerbeats Pro 2 the first Beats product to offer this capability. The earbuds also support Fast Fuel charging, providing 90 minutes of playback with just a 5-minute charge.
