Harbin, China – In a stunning display of skill and athleticism, South Korean snowboarders Lee Chae-un and Kang Dong-hun secured gold and bronze medals respectively in the men’s slopestyle final at the Asian Winter Games held in Yabuli, Harbin on February 8th.

Lee Chae-un, a rising star in the snowboarding world, clinched the gold medal with an impressive score of 90 points. Kang Dong-hun followed with a score of 74, earning him the bronze. China’s Liu Haoyu took home the silver medal.

Lee, only 18 years old, has quickly established himself as a versatile snowboarder, excelling in halfpipe, slopestyle, and big air disciplines. His victory at the 2023 Snowboarding World Championships at the age of 16 years and 10 months made him the youngest-ever champion in the halfpipe event. He further solidified his reputation by winning gold medals in both halfpipe and slopestyle at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics held in Gangwon, South Korea.

This victory at the Asian Winter Games marks another significant milestone in Lee’s burgeoning career and highlights the growing strength of South Korea in competitive snowboarding. Kang’s bronze medal further underscores the team’s dominance in the event.

The performance of the South Korean team at the Asian Winter Games signals a promising future for the sport in the region and sets the stage for exciting competitions to come. With young talents like Lee Chae-un leading the charge, South Korea is poised to become a major force in international snowboarding.
