Zeekr 7X Unveiled for European Market: A Glimpseinto China’s EV Expansion
Uncamouflaged test vehicles ofthe Zeekr 7X, a Chinese electric SUV, have been spotted undergoing road tests in Europe, signaling the brand’s ambitious expansion into the Westernmarket. Expected to launch in 2025, the 7X promises a compelling blend of performance and technology, but its European price tag islikely to reflect the premium associated with importing such vehicles.
The images, released by Insideevs, reveal a vehicle largely consistent with its Chinese counterpart. However, key differences are apparent. The European version appears to be missing the integrated lightcurtain and LiDAR sensor array found on the domestic model, and sports a redesigned six-spoke wheel. While interior shots remain elusive, it’s anticipated that the Zeekr 7X will maintain the minimalist, stylish interior designcharacteristic of the Zeekr family, featuring a floating central control screen and amenities such as a panoramic sunroof, rear multimedia screen, central armrest screen, and wireless charging pad. The spaciousness of the vehicle is also expected to remain consistent, with a 616-liter rear trunk and a 62-liter front trunk.
The Chinese-market Zeekr 7X boasts impressive specifications. Built on the SEA modular architecture, it supports an 800-volt high-voltage platform and utilizes a SiC (silicon carbide) rear motor. Two powertrain options are available: a rear-wheel-drive version with a maximum power output of 310 kilowatts (414 hp) and a peak torque of 440 Newton-meters (325 lb-ft), offering a CLTC-rated range of 780 kilometers (485 miles); and anall-wheel-drive variant with a combined power output of 475 kilowatts (634 hp) and a combined torque of 710 Newton-meters (524 lb-ft), boasting a range of 705 kilometers (438 miles). Whether these specificationswill remain unchanged for the European market remains to be seen.
The significant price difference between Chinese and European markets for Zeekr vehicles is a crucial factor. The domestic starting price of the Zeekr 7X is RMB 229,900 (approximately USD 31,500). However, considering transportation, taxes, and import duties, the European price is expected to be considerably higher. The Zeekr X serves as a compelling example: its starting price in China is RMB 149,000 (approximately USD 20,400), while its Europeanequivalent commands €44,990 (approximately USD 48,800). This substantial price disparity suggests a significant price increase for the Zeekr 7X in Europe.
The launch of the Zeekr 7X in Europe represents a significant step for the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) industry’s global ambitions. The success of this venture will depend not only on the vehicle’s performance and features but also on its ability to compete on price and meet the specific demands of the European market. Further details regarding specifications, pricing, and launch date for the European version are eagerly awaited.
