Yoon Suk-yeol to Attend APEC and G20 Summits,Potential Meetings with Trump, China, and Japan

Seoul, November 12,2024 – South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol will embark on a trip to Peru and Brazil from November 14th to 21st, where he will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and Group of Twenty (G20) summits. The visit is expected toinclude multiple bilateral and trilateral meetings with leaders from China, the United States, Japan, and other nations.

According to Kim Tae-hyo, the first deputy director of the National Security Office, who briefed the press at the presidential officein Yongsan, Seoul, South Korea is actively coordinating with China and Japan for bilateral meetings, with a high probability of success. Regarding a potential trilateral summit with the US and Japan, Kim stated that the three countries had previously agreed toaim for a meeting before the end of President Biden’s term. South Korea is actively engaging with the US and Japan to facilitate the trilateral summit.
