ByteDance’s Doubao Unveils SeedEdit: A One-Sentence Image Editing Model
Beijing, China – ByteDance, the tech giant behind popular apps like TikTok andDouyin, has announced the launch of SeedEdit, a new universal image editing model powered by its Doubao large language model team. This innovative tool allows users tomodify images with simple text prompts, making image editing more accessible and intuitive.
SeedEdit empowers users to perform a wide range of edits, including:
- Image Enhancement: Adjust brightness, contrast, and color saturation.
- Outfit Changes: Swap clothing styles and accessories.
- Aesthetic Refinement: Enhance image aesthetics with artistic filters.
- Style Transformation: Convert images to differentartistic styles, such as painting or photography.
- Element Manipulation: Add or remove elements within specific areas of the image.
The model is currently available for testing on both the Doubao PC platform and the Jimeng web platform. Users canaccess SeedEdit by clicking the Continue Editing button after generating an image with Doubao. They can then input simple text instructions to modify the image’s background, subject, or other elements.
For example, after generating an image of a dog running in a field, users can simply type changethe background to a beach to obtain a modified image with the desired background. Users can also upload their own reference images and use SeedEdit for further processing.
SeedEdit marks a significant advancement in the field of image editing. While research in text-to-image and image-to-image generation has been prolific,effectively editing generated images with natural language instructions has remained a challenge. Previous solutions often struggled with stability and image quality.
Recent advancements like Dalle3 and Midjourney have introduced product-level image editing features, significantly improving image quality. However, they still lack precise responsiveness to user editing instructions and struggle to maintain original image information.
