Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to Receive Honorary Doctorate from Hong Kong University of Science andTechnology
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is set to receive an honorary doctorate from the Hong Kong Universityof Science and Technology (HKUST), adding another prestigious accolade to his impressive resume.
The news was announced to the 2024 graduating classby HKUST, with the degree conferment ceremony scheduled for November 23rd. Huang will be one of four distinguished individuals and scholars to receive honorary doctorates,alongside renowned actor Tony Leung Chiu-wai, prominent biochemist Professor Michael Levitt, and American mathematician Professor David Mumford.
This recognition from HKUST, currently ranked 47th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings,highlights Huang’s significant contributions to the field of technology. Notably, Huang already holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, ranked sixth in the world.
The news comes shortly after AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Sureceived an honorary doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley in May 2023, making both CEOs of the leading graphics processing unit (GPU) manufacturers recipients of prestigious academic honors.
While Nvidia has confirmed receiving the invitation from HKUST, they have declined to comment on Huang’s attendance at the ceremony.
This honorary doctorate further solidifies Huang’s position as a leading figure in the tech industry, recognized not only for his business acumen but also for his contributions to the advancement of technology.
