BYD’s Ocean Network Expands: New Sea Lion MPV and SeaLeopard Crossover on the Horizon

BYD’s Ocean Network, a key player in theChinese electric vehicle market, is gearing up for further expansion with new models and brand extensions. The company, which celebrated its third anniversary recently, has achieved remarkablesuccess, exceeding 3.5 million units sold.

At a recent fan event, Zhang Zhuo, General Manager of BYD’s OceanNetwork Sales Division, unveiled the network’s future product strategy. He announced that all future Ocean Network sedans will be branded as Sea Leopard while SUVs will be branded as Sea Lion. This strategy aims to create acomprehensive product matrix ranging from A-class to D-class vehicles.

Expanding Beyond Sedans and SUVs: The Sea Leopard branding will extend beyond sedans, with a new crossover model planned for release. Furthermore, the Ocean Network will introducea brand-new MPV model under a completely new brand identity. This signifies a strategic move by BYD to diversify its offerings and cater to a wider range of customer needs.

October Sales Figures Reflect Continued Momentum: BYD’s impressive sales figures underscore the success of its Ocean Network. In October, thecompany sold a total of 502,657 vehicles, representing a year-on-year increase of 66.53%. The Ocean Network contributed significantly to this success, achieving a total of 229,751 units sold in October.

Individual Model Performance: TheSeagull, a popular compact electric car, achieved 54,081 units sold in October, bringing its annual total to 365,748 units. The Dolphin, another successful electric model, recorded 21,710 units sold in October, bringing its annual total to154,848 units. The Sea Leopard lineup, which includes the EV, 07DM-i, 06DM-i, and 06GT, sold 59,893 units in October, reaching a total of 286,832units for the year.

The Sea Lion lineup, encompassing the 07 and 05DM-i models, achieved 19,232 units sold in October, bringing its annual total to 55,275 units.

BYD’s Ocean Network is clearlyon a trajectory of growth and innovation. With the introduction of new models and brand extensions, the company is poised to further solidify its position as a leading player in the global electric vehicle market. The upcoming Sea Leopard crossover and the yet-to-be-named MPV are expected to contribute significantly to this continued success.
