October 26, 2024 – Users of Intel Z890 motherboards, released alongside the Core Ultra 200S series processors, are advised to hold off onupgrading to Windows 11 24H2, or update their BIOS before doing so. This compatibility issue, confirmed by ASUS, stems from the newintegrated graphics and has led to widespread problems for users.

ASUS, the first manufacturer to publicly acknowledge the issue, has released a new BIOS update to address the compatibility problems. However, the issue is not limited to ASUS motherboards.YouTuber @KitGuru and Videocardz, after consulting with various review agencies, have confirmed that the issue affects Z890 motherboards from other manufacturers like Gigabyte, MSI, and ASRock as well. While these companies havenot publicly admitted to the issue, they have all released BIOS updates to resolve the problem.

For users whose motherboard manufacturers have yet to provide BIOS updates, a temporary workaround involves disabling the integrated graphics of the Ultra 200S series processors before upgrading to Windows 11 24H2.

This compatibility issue highlights the importance of staying informed about potential problems when upgrading to new operating systems.
