TEL AVIV, ISRAEL – Iran’s top military commander,Major General Hossein Salami, has issued a stark warning to Israel, urging the country not to rely on the US-deployed THAAD missile defense system.Salami claims the system offers only limited defense and that Israel’s reliance on it will not prevent a potential retaliatory strike from theresistance axis.

Don’t trust the THAAD launchers; they are limited, Salami said, according to Iran’s Press TV. You can launch as many as you want, but your enemy will launch many times morethan you. You can’t win, we will defeat you.

The THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) system, a sophisticated ground-to-air missile defense system, is capable of intercepting short, medium, andlong-range ballistic missiles. The US has recently deployed a full THAAD system to Israel, including personnel, to bolster the country’s air defense capabilities.

The deployment began on October 15th, with the US Department of Defense announcing the arrival of a US advance team and components of the THAAD system. While the exact deployment timeline remains undisclosed for security reasons, the system is now operational in Israel, according to CCTV News.

Israel has expressed gratitude for the deployment, but has refrained from disclosing the official activation date of the THAAD system.

This latest development comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, withboth countries engaged in a proxy war in Syria. Iran has repeatedly threatened Israel with retaliation for its military actions in the region, and the deployment of the THAAD system is seen as a response to these threats.

Salami’s warning underscores the escalating tensions between the two countries and the potential for a wider conflict. Theeffectiveness of the THAAD system in deterring Iranian attacks remains to be seen, but its deployment has undoubtedly raised the stakes in the Middle East.
