Big Eater King Penguin Becomes a Viral Sensation!
Melbourne, Australia – The SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium has welcomed a new heavyweight star –Pesto, a 9-month-old king penguin chick. With his extraordinary size and adorable appearance, Pesto has quickly become an internet sensation, capturing the hearts ofmillions.
Born on January 30th, Pesto was named after a former star penguin at the aquarium, Basil, symbolizing a legacy of cuteness. His unique physique and astonishing appetite have made him the center of attention at the aquarium, sparking a wave of discussion online.
Pesto currently stands at 90 centimeters tall and weighs a whopping 22 kilograms, far exceeding hispeers. He even outweighs his parents combined! Compared to the typical weight range of adult king penguins, which is 9.5 to 18 kilograms, this giant baby is truly exceptional.
Pesto consumes a staggering 20-30 fish daily, equating to a weekly intake of 24 kilograms of fish. This extraordinary appetite has resulted in a remarkably round physique, making him wobble adorably as he walks. Despite his massive size, veterinarians assure that Pesto is in excellent health. For penguin chicks, a larger appetite is a normal phenomenon. He is currently in his growth phase, building up energy reserves for adulthood. Over the next one to two months, Pesto will enter adulthood, shedding his current brown down feathers and acquiring the iconic black and whiteplumage of mature penguins. His weight loss plan will also commence, aiming to bring his weight down to a more manageable level.
