South Korea’s Finance Minister Embarks on International Tour, Hosting Economic Briefing in New York
Seoul, South Korea – South Korea’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister ofEconomy and Finance, Choi Sang-mok, departed on October 19th for a series of international engagements, including a key economic briefing in New York.
TheMinistry of Economy and Finance announced that Choi will participate in the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Lima, Peru,from October 20th to 21st. As South Korea holds the rotating chairmanship of APEC next year, the country will host the APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Incheon in October 2025.Choi will formally assume the chairmanship responsibilities at the Lima meeting, outlining key themes and agenda items for the 2025 gathering.
Following the APEC meeting, Choi will travel to New York on October 22ndto host a comprehensive economic briefing for global investors. The presentation will highlight South Korea’s economic fundamentals, as well as the government’s policy direction regarding capital and foreign exchange markets.
The Finance Minister will then head to Washington D.C. for the fourth meeting of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, scheduled for October 23rd and 24th.
This international tour underscores South Korea’s commitment to fostering global economic cooperation and promoting its economic strengths to the international community. The New York economic briefing, in particular, is expected to attract significant attention from investors seeking insights into South Korea’s economicoutlook and policy priorities.
