San Francisco, CA – Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, is in talks with Tesla to license its AI models for use in the electric car maker’s vehicles, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal. The deal,if finalized, would see Tesla sharing future revenue with xAI.

Sources familiar with the matter revealed that xAI would assist Tesla in developing various features, includinga Siri-like voice assistant for its electric vehicles and software to power its Optimus humanoid robot. The agreement, as described to investors, would grant Tesla access to xAI’s models to enhance its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system.

The revenue-sharing terms between xAI and Tesla are reportedly contingent on the extent to which Tesla relies on xAI’s technology versus its own internal capabilities.

This news comes on the heels of Musk’s announcementon September 3rd that xAI’s super AI training cluster, Colossus, is now operational. Colossus, built in 122 days, boasts a staggering 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPU accelerator cards and is set to double in size in the coming months with the addition ofanother 100,000 GPUs, including 50,000 of the more advanced H200.

The potential partnership between Tesla and xAI signifies a significant step towards integrating advanced AI capabilities into Tesla’s vehicles. The integration of xAI’s models could lead tomore sophisticated voice assistants, enhanced FSD functionality, and a more seamless user experience across Tesla’s product line.

This development also highlights the growing influence of AI in the automotive industry, with companies like Tesla actively seeking to leverage its power to enhance their offerings and gain a competitive edge.
