South Korea and China Strengthen Police Cooperation to Combat Transnational Crime
Chuncheon, South Korea – On October 14th, the GangwonProvincial Police Agency of South Korea held a working meeting with a delegation from the Jilin Provincial Public Security Department of China, aiming to expand police cooperation and strengthen joint efforts ininternational criminal investigations.
The meeting marks a significant step in the ongoing collaboration between the two regions, which began with the signing of a friendly cooperation agreement in October 1999. Since then, both agencies have engaged in 29 mutual visits and exchanges, fostering a close working relationship. This collaboration has proven fruitful, with the Jilin Provincial Public Security Department playing a crucial role in assisting Gangwon police inapprehending 380 individuals involved in telecommunications fraud operations in China.
The delegation, led by Jilin Provincial Public Security Department Director He Zhiliang, is on a four-day visit to South Korea. The working meeting focused onexploring ways to further enhance police cooperation, particularly in areas like international criminal investigations and joint operations under the auspices of Interpol.
The meeting highlights the growing importance of international cooperation in combating transnational crime. By sharing intelligence and resources, police agencies from different countries can more effectively target criminal networks and protect citizens from various threats.
The visit of the Jilin delegation and the subsequent working meeting underscore the commitment of both South Korea and China to strengthening law enforcement partnerships and working together to address shared security challenges.
