China and Cyprus Strengthen Strategic Partnership with High-Level Talks

Beijing, October11, 2024 – Zhao Leji, Chairman of the StandingCommittee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, met with Annita Demetriou, President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, in Beijing onWednesday afternoon. The meeting signaled a deepening of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

During the talks, Zhao emphasized the strong foundation of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit that has characterized China-Cyprus relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties. He highlighted the elevation of bilateral relations to a strategic partnership in 2021, a decision made by the leaders of both nations, and expressedChina’s commitment to working with Cyprus in building a shared future for humanity.

Zhao expressed China’s willingness to enhance cooperation with Cyprus across all levels and sectors, further enriching the content of the strategic partnership.
