Korean and Chinese Cultural Exchange Flourishes at Busan International Film Festival

Busan, SouthKorea – The 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF)has become a platform for cultural exchange between Korea and China, hosting a series of film and art events.

The 潔 – Lu Xiaobo Ink Painting Exhibition, curated by Professor Shim Sang-ryong, director of the Seoul National University Art Museum, opened on October 4th at the Jaehee Art Museum inBusan. The event was attended by Xin Lijun, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Busan, as well as numerous university professors and artists.

The exhibition showcases recent works by Professor Lu Xiaobo, former dean of the Tsinghua UniversityAcademy of Fine Arts. It serves as an opportunity for Seoul National University and Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts to deepen their collaboration during the BIFF.

On October 5th, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the 潔 – LuXiaobo Ink Painting Exhibition in Busan. The same evening, the Night of Glory with Director Xie Fei event took place at the Busan Film Industry Center. Director Xie Fei, known for his influential works in Chinese cinema, shared insights into the history and evolution of Chinese film.

These events highlight the growingcultural ties between Korea and China, with the BIFF serving as a bridge for artistic dialogue and collaboration. The festival’s focus on international exchange fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures through the shared language of film and art.
