Over 95% of Foreign Players Oppose Forced Inclusivity inGames: Survey

A recent survey conducted on the popular online forum NeoGAFhas revealed that over 95% of gamers are against forced inclusivity in video games. The survey, which asked players if inclusivity was important to themin games, saw a resounding No from the majority, with only 4.8% voting Yes.

This result reflects a growing frustration amonggamers who feel that the gaming industry is increasingly pushing a forced narrative of inclusivity, often at the expense of good storytelling and character development.

Honestly, I don’t care what race or gender the character I play as is,one player commented. As long as it’s a good game, I’ll play it. The story is an important part of the experience. However, when they force this ‘inclusivity’ idea on us, it’sobvious and makes it awkward or detracts from the story.

Many players expressed a strong dislike for what they perceive as a political agenda being pushed into video games. The only thing I want to include is my balls in their face for forcing their political agenda into video games, one player wrote.

The concept of inclusivity itself is also being questioned. Some people may be confused about what the signs of inclusivity are, another player commented. It’s not about putting X race or X gender into video games. It’s about forcing X race or X gender into video games to show virtue signaling, putting gender/race intocompletely unrealistic or stupid situations.

One player used the example of The Last of Us Part II to illustrate their point. I 100% agree with the OP, they wrote. One of the biggest forced inclusions was Abby in The Last of Us Part II. Are there girls in theworld that look like strong muscular men? Yes, but I think it’s whether it’s suitable for the story, which takes you away from the unrealistic experience.

The survey results highlight a growing disconnect between the gaming industry’s push for inclusivity and the preferences of its players. While diversity and representation are important, many gamers feel that forced inclusivity can be detrimental to the overall quality of a game.

This debate is likely to continue as the gaming industry grapples with the challenges of creating games that are both inclusive and engaging for a wide range of players.
