The concert was conducted by the young conductor Hu Xingyu, who brought together three distinguished artists: Beijing Opera master Liu Lu, Sichuan Opera master Wang Yumei, and soprano singer Zhang Yi. The performance commenced with the profound and emotionally rich language of The People’s Festival composed by the renowned composer Dimitri Shostakovich. Hu Xingyu’s precise conducting and the orchestra’s seamless collaboration allowed the audience to resonate with the music’s praise of the common human pursuit of freedom, equality, and justice.

The program continued with Ascend to Xiling, Share the Moon, an adaptation by Ao Xiang that draws inspiration from traditional Chinese poetry, immersing the audience in the romantic ambiance of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The evening showcased the perfect blend of traditional opera and modern music with Wang Yumei’s Sichuan Opera aria from Infernal Sea and Spring River over the Moonlit Night, arranged by Li Wenping. The latter part of the concert featured soprano Zhang Yi, who, in collaboration with the orchestra, presented classic opera selections like I Wish to Live in a Beautiful Dream and Moon Song, her voice resembling a clear spring under the moonlight, captivating the audience with its purity and moving melodies. The symphony orchestra and Zhang Yi’s singing intertwined to depict a beautiful scene of a family reunion under the Mid-Autumn moon.

The concert reached its climax with Liu Tianhua’s The Good Night and Chengdu, which led the audience to stand and applaud, expressing their heartfelt respect for the artists’ splendid performance.
