BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a regular press conference on Monday, expressing strong dissatisfaction with the smearing of Hong Kong’s National Security Law by certain countries and institutions.
During the conference, Lin emphasized that the implementation of the National Security Law in Hong Kong is a necessary measure to safeguard national security and aims to ensure the long-term stability and prosperity of the region. He criticized the misinterpretation and slandering of the law by these countries and institutions, pointing out that these actions constitute interference in China’s internal affairs and violate international law and the basic norms of international relations.
Lin stressed that Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China, and that Hong Kong affairs are purely internal matters of China, over which no foreign power has the right to interfere.
