Ahead of the KDE Plasma 6.2 soft feature freeze happening next week, KDE developers have been preparing some last-minute features for the desktop. KDE developer Nate Graham is out with his usual weekly recap of all interesting things happening in the KDE community for the week. Here are some of the highlights:
-
Per-Monitor Brightness Controls: The Plasma brightness widget now allows per-monitor/display brightness sliders. Every connected monitor with brightness control capabilities is now exposed independently, providing more granular control over each display.
-
Offline Update Handling: Plasma 6.2 introduces the ability to update and shut down the computer. This complements the existing options of rebooting, skipping the update, or updating and then rebooting.
-
Panel Edit Mode: Long-pressing an empty area of a Plasma panel will now enter the panel edit mode, making it easier to customize your workspace.
-
UX Overhaul: The add widgets sidebar has undergone a UX overhaul, enhancing the user experience when adding new widgets to your desktop.
-
Improved KWin HDR Tone Mapping: KWin, the window manager for KDE, now features improved HDR tone mapping, providing better visual quality for HDR content.
-
Improved KWin Performance: KDE has optimized KWin performance for some multi-GPU systems, leading to smoother and more efficient performance.
-
Many Bug Fixes: The development team has also worked on numerous bug fixes to improve overall stability and reliability.
