Heavy Rains Damage Temporary Workshops for Wajima Lacquerware in Ishikawa Prefecture
Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture – Heavy rains have caused significant damage to temporary workshopsfor Wajima lacquerware in Ishikawa Prefecture, impacting the recovery efforts for residents affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake.
The temporary workshops, built to support thelivelihood of earthquake victims, were largely flooded during the recent downpour. According to local authorities, approximately 80% of the workshops, or 38 out of47, have suffered water damage.
Seven of the workshops are unusable due to flooding above the floor level, while 31 others experienced flooding below the floor level. The remaining 29 workshops, which are still under construction,were not affected.
