The celebration of the 2024 Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival in Baiyun District, Guangzhou, showcases the district’s remarkable achievements in agriculture, rural revitalization, and urban-rural integration.
On September 21st, 2024, the curtain rose on the celebration of the Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival in the Renhe Park of Baiyun District, Guangzhou. The event not only commemorated the harvest season but also highlighted Baiyun District’s dedication to the Million Projects initiative and its significant progress in promoting rural revitalization and urban-rural integration.
Over the past year, Baiyun District has made impressive strides in the coordination of industry and ecology, resulting in enhanced green landscapes. The district’s agricultural industry has experienced a notable upgrade, with vibrant developments in beautiful rural construction and a steady increase in farmers’ income, painting a vibrant picture of rural revitalization.
Agriculture Industry’s Ascendancy
The past year has been particularly fruitful for Baiyun District’s agricultural industry. Notable among its achievements is the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Vegetable Basket Trading Center, the largest agricultural investment project in the province, which is swiftly taking shape. The district has also seen the rapid progress of several key projects, including Rongtong and Dian Dou De.
Baiyun District has expanded its scope of investment attraction, welcoming major projects such as the Mingte (South China) Food Collection Smart Supply Chain Base and the Rural Revitalization Cultural, Business, and Tourism Complex. These developments have significantly bolstered the district’s agricultural industry and injected new vitality into the local economy.
The district boasts a substantial number of national and provincial-level agricultural leading enterprises, consistently ranking first in the city for several consecutive years. This year, it added seven provincial-level benchmark farmer cooperatives and five provincial-level benchmark family farms, further enhancing the strength of the agricultural industry.
Beautiful Rural Construction Flourishes
Baiyun District has pioneered a long-term evaluation mechanism for rural living environment improvement in the city, setting up special funds to incentivize administrative villages with outstanding performance in evaluations. This has sparked a competitive atmosphere among villages to enhance their living environments.
Currently, all administrative villages in the district have achieved 100% coverage in village cleaning, garbage disposal, harmless sanitary toilet coverage, completion rate of natural village sewage terminal treatment facilities, rainwater and sewage separation rate, and village road hardening rate. The rural ecological environment has become increasingly green and beautiful. The district has constructed 2,798 rural four small gardens according to local conditions, with all 109 administrative villages included in the rural construction system reaching the provincial standard for beautiful livable villages, and 34 villages reaching the characteristic boutique village standard.
Steady Increase in Farmers’ Income
In terms of increasing farmers’ income, Baiyun District has implemented a series of policies and measures to ensure a steady rise. In the first half of this year, the per capita disposable income of rural residents in the district reached 22,530 yuan, growing by 7.7%, leading the city in growth rate.
Baiyun District has actively promoted the development of rural collective economy, optimized resource allocation, and advanced the pilot construction of rural property rights transfer and trading. This has resulted in an efficient management system, promoting the standardization of transactions. In total, 6,481 transactions were completed this year, with a transaction amount of 5.705 billion yuan, ranking first in Guangzhou.
Looking ahead, Baiyun District will meticulously implement the specific deployment of the provincial party committee’s 1310 and the municipal party committee’s 1312 ideas and measures, deepening innovative measures such as the pairing and mutual promotion of towns and streets. The district aims to intensify efforts in developing strong district, rich town, and prosperous village industries, enhancing rural environment and functional quality, and creating high-quality development models. With greater determination and strength, Baiyun District is committed to driving the Million Projects, striving to write a new chapter in the coordinated development of urban and rural areas in the district.
