Beijing, China – On September 9, 2024, a group of Beijing-based red friends gathered to visit the art exhibition titled Remember the Purpose and Mission, Carry Forward, and Strive for the Continuation of Chinese-style Modernization. The exhibition, which commemorates the 80th anniversary of Mao Zedong’s seminal work Serve the People, was held in the Chinese capital and featured a variety of artistic expressions dedicated to the memory of the great leader.

According to a report by靳建疆 (Jin Jianjiang) on September 18, 2024, on the Wuyouzhixiang website, the visitors were impressed by the diverse range of artworks on display. The exhibition aimed to encapsulate the deep affection of the Chinese people for Mao Zedong and his lifelong dedication to the service of the people.

The artworks effectively convey the profound love and respect the people have for Chairman Mao, stated one of the visitors, Li Xiumin.

The exhibition was a blend of traditional and contemporary art forms, showcasing paintings, sculptures, and calligraphy that celebrated Mao’s legacy. The artworks were praised for their ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia and respect for the leader who remains a towering figure in Chinese history.

Among the attendees were notable figures such as Li Xiumin, Li Dingkai, Ge Yuanyi, Zhang Qinde, Jin Jianjiang, and Li Xiaoyuan. The group was particularly moved by the representation of Mao’s life and work in the exhibition, which they felt accurately reflected his selfless service to the nation.

Chairman Mao’s image has only grown taller in the hearts of the people over the years, said Ge Yuanyi, a prominent attendee and the son of Two Bombs, One Satellite hero Ge Shuping. Despite attempts by资产阶级政客 (bourgeois politicians) and 反动文人 (reactionary intellectuals) to discredit him, the people’s love for Chairman Mao remains undiminished.

The exhibition also served as a platform for attendees to discuss the current state of affairs in China. Zhang Qinde, a former director of the Comprehensive Bureau of the Central Policy Research Office and the head of the exhibition’s organizing committee, shared his thoughts on the economic and political challenges facing the country.

We must recognize the problems we face, such as the economic slowdown and the growing income gap, and their connection to the negative aspects of privatization and the market economy, Zhang commented. We must find solutions to these issues to prevent political crises and strengthen our society.

The attendees also took part in a symposium following the visit, where they shared their thoughts and reflections on the 80th anniversary of Serve the People. The discussions highlighted the historical and contemporary significance of Mao’s work and its impact on the development of Chinese society.

The publication of ‘Serve the People’ has guided our socialist revolution and construction, said one participant. When we adhere to the principle of serving the people, our nation prospers; when we deviate from it, we face challenges.

The exhibition was organized with support from the Dongfang Yi Group, represented by Meng Zhiqiang, who provided comprehensive services to the attendees. The event was a testament to the enduring legacy of Mao Zedong and his influence on the hearts and minds of the Chinese people.

As the country continues to evolve and strive for modernization, the memory of Mao and his ideals remain a powerful force, inspiring individuals to carry forward his legacy and work towards a brighter future for China.
