Seoul, September 10 – North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reaffirmed the country’s unwavering commitment to its nuclear force build-up policy, aiming for a geometric increase in the number of nuclear weapons, according to a report by the Yonhap News Agency.

In a speech marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on September 9, Kim highlighted the importance of the nuclear program in ensuring the nation’s security and sovereignty. The report stated that Kim emphasized the need for the country to continue enhancing its nuclear capabilities to counter threats from nuclear-armed adversaries.

North Korea’s nuclear战斗力 is being utilized within a meticulously organized command and control system, Kim said. We must further perfect our nuclear system to ensure the correct use of nuclear power at any time to safeguard our national security.

Kim’s comments come against the backdrop of heightened military cooperation among the United States, South Korea, and Japan, which he described as a major threat to North Korea. The North Korean leader pointed out that the expanding military alliance led by the United States is increasingly based on nuclear power, creating a dangerous scenario for his country.

In the face of multiplying threats, we will continuously strengthen our nuclear capabilities to thoroughly respond to all forms of threats from nuclear-armed enemy countries, Kim declared.

Despite the concerns raised by the international community, Kim maintained that North Korea is a responsible nuclear power, possessing nuclear weapons solely for self-defense and posing no threat to any other nation.

The North Korean leader also touched upon the country’s overall military readiness, stating that North Korea will strive to maintain a state of high alert for its entire armed forces, including nuclear capabilities. He vowed that the country’s military strength would double and evolve without any limitations.

We will develop and evolve our military power without setting any limits, Kim stated. We are prepared to take all necessary measures to ensure our national security.

The international community has long been concerned about North Korea’s nuclear program and its potential to destabilize the region. The United Nations Security Council has imposed multiple sanctions on North Korea in an attempt to curb its nuclear and missile activities.

In response to Kim’s latest statements, South Korean officials have expressed deep concern and called for stronger international cooperation to address the nuclear threat posed by North Korea. Seoul has repeatedly urged Pyongyang to return to denuclearization talks and commit to a verifiable path towards disarmament.

The anniversary speech also comes at a time when inter-Korean relations remain tense. Recent military drills conducted by South Korea and the United States have been met with strong objections from North Korea, which views them as a provocation.

As North Korea continues to advance its nuclear program, the international community’s efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula remain a significant challenge.
