China’s Auto Industry Group Sues Over Shanghai Auto Show Control
BEIJING, Sept. 9, 2024 – TheChina Chamber of International Commerce (CCIC) Auto Industry Branch, the long-time organizer of the Shanghai Auto Show, has filed a lawsuit against the Shanghai InternationalTrade Promotion Committee and Shanghai International Exhibition (Group) Co., Ltd. (collectively referred to as Shanghai side) for alleged breaches of contract and unilateral actionsthat have jeopardized the upcoming 2025 Shanghai Auto Show.
The CCIC Auto Industry Branch, in a statement released today, explained that the existing cooperation agreement signed in 2002 between the two parties remains valid. However, recent unilateral decisions and actions by the Shanghai side have created uncertainties and legal and commercial risks for the 2025 event.
As the organizer of the Shanghai Auto Show, we are committed to ensuring the healthy andstable development of the auto industry and the show itself, the statement read. We are also committed to protecting the brand and reputation of the Shanghai Auto Show and our own legitimate rights.
The CCIC Auto Industry Branch has also informed relevant authorities and is actively communicating with the Shanghai side. The organization has also filed alawsuit with the judicial authorities, seeking a resolution through legal means.
