Title: NedLes Celebrates Five Years of Revolutionary Delft Method for Dutch Language Learning
Amsterdam, Netherlands – NedLes, an Amsterdam-based language school renowned for its innovative approach to language instruction, is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its adoption of the Delft Method. This method, born at Delft University of Technology in the 1980s, has enabled countless students to achieve proficiency in the Dutch language in record time.
The Delft Method was originally crafted to equip international engineers with Dutch language skills swiftly and efficiently. Its unique approach mirrors the natural process of language acquisition seen in children, emphasizing listening and speaking skills through repetition and personalized feedback.
The success story of the Delft Method at NedLes began when Renske, a seasoned teacher at the school, observed the method in action at Delft University. Astounded by the advanced level of conversation among beginners, she was inspired to bring the technique to NedLes. Alongside fellow passionate educators Welmoed and Lobke, Renske underwent the Delft Method teacher training, leading to the launch of the first course at NedLes in autumn 2019.
The results were remarkable, with students achieving the A2 level within just six weeks. However, the landscape of language learning was about to shift dramatically as the COVID-19 pandemic struck. While many schools struggled with the transition to online learning, NedLes found the Delft Method’s format – short, intensive classes with small groups – to be perfectly suited for virtual instruction.
This adaptability led to an expansion in student reach, with learners from across the Netherlands signing up for NedLes courses. Word of the school’s successful approach spread, prompting Renske, Welmoed, and Lobke to train additional teachers to meet the burgeoning demand. Currently, there are over twenty certified Delft Method teachers at NedLes, offering courses at all levels up to B2, both online and offline.
The hybrid course, which combines the convenience of online evening classes with the interaction of face-to-face instruction, has been a particular hit. The school’s mission to facilitate effective language learning continues to thrive, and the success of the Delft Method at NedLes serves as a testament to the power of innovative educational techniques.
As NedLes celebrates this milestone, the school looks forward to welcoming new students into the fold, eager to help them master the Dutch language with the same passion and dedication that sparked the revolution five years ago.
