Hangzhou International Day Expands Global Network, Promotes Cultural Exchange and Industrial Collaboration
Hangzhou, China – The seventh Hangzhou International Day kicked off on September5th, bringing together representatives from consulates general, business associations, and international friends from various countries in Zhejiang province. The event, themed Hangzhou Connects the World: Cultural Integration and Industrial Collaboration, aims to amplify the impact of the Asian Games and propel Hangzhou towards becoming a world-class socialist modern international metropolis.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and a pivotal year for Hangzhou as it embarks on a new journey as a super-large city. The event focuses on supportingthe construction of One City, One Region, One Center, a strategic initiative to establish Hangzhou as a global hub for innovation, culture, and economic development.
Liu Jie, Deputy Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party ofChina and Secretary of the Hangzhou Municipal Committee, delivered a welcome speech. Chen Yuru, Consul General of Fiji in Shanghai and Dean of the Foreign Consular Corps in Shanghai, and Molly, President of the Italy-China Friendship Association, delivered congratulatory remarks both online and offline.
The Belt and Road LocalCooperation Committee presented a remarkable report on its progress. This year, the committee received five applications for associate membership, signifying the continuous expansion of Hangzhou’s global network.
The event also witnessed the unveiling of the Asian Karate Academy and Asian Karate Training Center by the Asian Karate Federation. The AI Hangzhou comprehensive foreign affairs service platform was launched, aiming to provide digital public services to foreigners visiting Hangzhou.
The platform, comprising three sections – city services, city information, and city guidance – offers a range of services, including immigration, residency, travel, healthcare, internet access, transportation, utility payments, and volunteer opportunities. The city information section provides updates on Hangzhou, while the city guidance section offers comprehensive information on living, education, employment, and tourism.
I am grateful to Hangzhou for providing this platform for foreigners, making our lives more convenient. I am also more willing to invite overseas friends to visit Hangzhou, said Hong Zhiyuan from Switzerland, one of the first users of the AI Hangzhou platform. He believes that the platform will attract foreigners to live, work, and even start businesses in Hangzhou.
The event showcased Hangzhou’s commitment to fostering cultural exchange and international collaboration. The Belt and Road Local Cooperation Committee’sgrowth and the AI Hangzhou platform demonstrate the city’s efforts to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for foreigners. By leveraging its cultural heritage, technological advancements, and strategic initiatives, Hangzhou is positioning itself as a leading global city, attracting international talent and investment, and fostering a vibrant and interconnected world.
