JEJU, KOREA – AUGUST 22, 2024 — In a gesture aimed at fostering cultural and educational ties between China and South Korea, a delegation of high school students from Beijing, China, arrived in Jeju Island for a five-day visit. This visit is part of an ongoing student exchange program between Jeju and Beijing, highlighting the growing relationship between the two regions.

The delegation, consisting of 18 students and 3 chaperones, was welcomed by the Jeju Provincial Education Office. The visit marks a reciprocal effort following Jeju students’ trip to Beijing earlier this year, where they formed bonds with their peers at No. 166 High School and No. 27 High School.

During their stay, the Beijing students will visit several educational institutions, including Daejeong High School and West Geup High School. Here, they will engage in classroom activities, have lunch with local students, and participate in various educational programs. The itinerary also includes home-stay experiences with Jeju students, visits to natural heritage sites, and museums, providing a comprehensive understanding of the local culture and history.

The Jeju Provincial Education Office has organized this cultural exchange to introduce the rich history, natural beauty, and cultural heritage of Jeju to the Beijing students. This initiative also serves as a platform for international networking, offering the students a unique opportunity to experience global exchange.

The exchange program not only strengthens the ties between the educational institutions of the two regions but also facilitates the understanding and appreciation of different cultures. It promotes mutual respect and fosters a global perspective among the participating students.

In the context of the broader diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, this student exchange highlights the commitment of both nations to enhancing bilateral cooperation in educational and cultural domains. The visit is expected to contribute to the strengthening of the Sino-Korean friendship and to promote a more nuanced understanding of each other’s societies and histories.

As part of the program, the Jeju Provincial Education Office has arranged for a comprehensive itinerary that includes visits to significant landmarks and institutions, ensuring that the Beijing students have a rich and immersive experience in Jeju. This initiative is a testament to the growing collaboration between educational and cultural institutions in both China and South Korea, aiming to create a lasting impact on the future generations of students from both countries.
