Kelowna, BC – With over 25,500 students returning to Central Okanagan Public Schools (COPS) today, the district is reminding drivers to exercise extra caution around schools, crosswalks, andschool buses.
School zones are back in effect from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days, and drivers are urged to set aside extra time for their commutes, be patient in school zones, at crosswalks, and in both lanes around stopped school buses.
We want everyone to arrive at school safely, said Superintendent KevinKaardal. With so many students returning, streets will be very busy, so all drivers need to take extra time, be alert, and avoid distractions.
