Royal Couple Congratulates Dutch Paralympic Winners, TeamNL Secures Four GoldMedals

Paris, France – The Dutch royal couple, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, have extended their congratulations to the first Dutch gold medal winners at the Paralympic Games in Paris. The couple shared a congratulatory message onsocial media, highlighting the achievements of the athletes.

Caroline Groot claimed gold in the 500-meter time trial in the C5 classin Paraban cycling, setting a new world record in the process. Tristan Bangma and his pilot, Patrick Bos, also secured gold in the pursuit B in Paraban cycling.

Liesette Bruinsma dominatedthe 400-meter freestyle S11, securing her third Paralympic gold medal in the event. This victory follows her gold medal wins in the same event and the 200-meter medley at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

Chantalle Zijderveld successfully defended her title in the 100-meter breaststroke SB9, adding another gold medal to the Dutch tally.

With these victories, the Netherlands currently holds four gold medals, one silver, and one bronze,placing them fourth in the medal table. This impressive performance follows their strong showing at the 2021 Tokyo Games, where TeamNL secured 59 medals, including 25 gold, 17 silver, and 17 bronze.

The Paralympic Games in Paris began last Wednesday and will continue untilSunday, September 8. Over 4,400 athletes from 184 countries are competing for medals in 22 different sports.
