In a heartfelt statement, members of the popular K-pop girl group NewJeans have expressed their sorrow over the recent resignation of ADOR’s CEO, Min Hye-jin, who was the representative director of the company. The news comes as a blow to the group, who have been deeply affected by this change in leadership.
Min Hye-jin, who has been a pivotal figure in the group’s success, has stepped down from her position, leaving a significant impact on the members and their fans. NewJeans member Danielle, speaking on the fan interaction platform Phoning, shared her sentiments, saying, The departure of Min Hye-jin has brought about a sense of discomfort and distress within me. Similarly, member Minji added, I was planning to share some personal matters, but the pause in interactions with fans has been ongoing for a week. I wanted to reassure our fans who have been caring for us, but I lack the confidence to do so.
The development has been closely followed by the music industry, with ADOR’s decision to remove Min Hye-jin as the representative director but keeping her as an executive director, and continuing her role in the music production of NewJeans. However, Min Hye-jin has declined to sign a contract for her music production work due to a poison pill clause.
This situation has also affected the external companies involved in the production of NewJeans’ popular music videos on YouTube. The media studio Dolphiners Films, which produced music videos for hits like OMG, ETA, and Ditto, had their videos on the NewJeans channel removed due to ADOR’s request. Director Seo Yoo-seok (pseudonym) stated, Following ADOR’s request, our company has removed NewJeans’ music videos and related content from our YouTube channel, and we are unable to publish such content in the future.
NewJeans’ reaction to this change in leadership highlights the emotional bond between the group and its management. The members’ expressions of distress reflect the impact that changes in leadership can have on artists and their creative processes. This situation not only affects the group’s current projects but also raises questions about the future of their relationship with ADOR, the company that has played a crucial role in their career.
The recent developments at ADOR and NewJeans remind us of the complex dynamics between artists, their management, and the broader music industry. As the story unfolds, it will be interesting to see how NewJeans navigates this challenging period and what it means for their future collaborations with ADOR.
