Efficient Operations Amid High Demand
Amid the surging demand for travel, Wuhan Railway implemented various measures to ensure efficient operations. The bureau adopted a “daily diagram” approach to plan train schedules, increasing capacity through methods such as动车组重联运行 (CRH train set coupling) and adding cars to regular passenger trains. During the summer travel period, a total of 2,534 additional trains were added to the schedule.
Key Measures:
– Daily diagram approach for train scheduling
– CRH train set coupling and additional cars to regular trains
– 2,534 additional trains
The popular lines such as the Han-Yi Railway, Han-Shen High-Speed Railway, and Jing-Guang High-Speed Railway saw 1,149 pairs of trains running in coupled formations, an increase of 332 pairs compared to the same period last year.
Focus on Tourism and Passenger Comfort
In response to the summer tourism boom, Wuhan Railway continued to promote the “railway + tourism” initiative. Special tourist trains were launched from stations such as Yichang, Chibi, and Lichuan to destinations including Xinjiang, Northeast China, and Fujian. To cater to the needs of tourists and elderly passengers, the bureau implemented dedicated channels, waiting areas, and guides, ensuring a smooth travel experience.
Tourism Initiatives:
– 10 special tourist trains
– Dedicated channels, waiting areas, and guides
– Special services for elderly passengers
The bureau also introduced services like “priority passenger reservation” and “volunteer services,” establishing a service network to provide comprehensive support for key passengers. For instance, the Wuhan and Xiangyang passenger segments provided a “convenience service box” on trains equipped with summer healthcare products, while the Hankou Station created a children’s playground in the waiting area.
Energy Supply and International Freight
In addition to passenger services, Wuhan Railway transported nearly 30 million tons of various goods during the summer travel period. In response to the prolonged high temperatures in many regions, the bureau intensified the transport of energy supplies, ensuring the delivery of 8.803 million tons of coal to 31 direct-powered power plants within the jurisdiction, an 8.36% increase year-on-year.
The “North Coal to South” channel, represented by the Haoji Railway Xiangzhou North Station, saw the operation of 3,252 coal trains, transporting 11.83 million tons of coal, an increase of 3% from the previous year. Moreover, 134 trips of the China-Europe Railway Express were operated, marking a 7% increase compared to the same period last year.
