BEIJING, August 28, 2024 – China’s consumer goods variety has surpassed 200 million, solidifying its position as the world’s leading consumer market, according tostatistics released by the China Item Code Center, an institution under the State Administration for Market Regulation.

As of the end of June 2024, the total number of consumer goods registered for use of barcodes in China reached 200.847 million, representing a significant increase of 9.664 million new products compared to the previous year. This translatesto a 14.8% year-on-year growth, indicating a robust and dynamic consumer market.

The data, combined with statistics from the Global Standards One (GS1), confirms China’s dominance in consumer goods variety. This achievement underscores the country’s booming economy and its ability to cater to diverse consumer demands.
