Opportunities in China: Youth Speak International Youth Exchange Held in Guizhou

Guiyang, China – The Opportunities in China: YouthSpeak International Youth Exchange and Sharing Conference was held in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province, on August 26th. The event, jointlyorganized by Tsinghua University and the Publicity Department of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, brought together over 30 young people from countriesincluding the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore to discuss topics related to open development, technological advancement, cultural integration, heritage preservation, ecological civilization, and international exchange.

Cultural exchange plays an indispensable role in promoting mutualunderstanding and respect between countries, said Liao Ziping, an engineer from a Laotian technology company. Therefore, I look forward to more events like this, allowing us to connect more closely, build stronger partnerships, and open up more vastopportunities for cooperation in the future.

The conference featured a series of presentations and discussions, with participants sharing their perspectives and experiences on various aspects of China’s development and its impact on the world.

Jean-Potassi, an internationally renowned cave explorer and vice-president of the French Cave Union, who hasresided in Shuanghe Village, Suiyang County, Guizhou for over a decade, also participated in the sharing session. I have lived in Guizhou for a long time, and I deeply feel that Guizhou’s ecology is a treasure, he said.

The Tsinghua International Youth Dialogueinitiative, launched in 2023, aims to provide a multilateral platform for global youth to engage in exchange and cooperation, encouraging them to work together to inject youthful vitality into global development and progress.

We hope to spread the success stories and experiences of Guizhou to a wider international platform, allowing more peopleto understand our culture and how it integrates with modern development, said Xie Zongxu, co-founder of the Tsinghua International Youth Dialogue.

The Tsinghua International Youth Dialogue Guizhou trip took place from August 22nd to 26th, during which the international youth delegates participated in the China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week Xishan Forum, visited the Xiu Li Tao intangible cultural heritage market in Kaili City, interacted with Village T (a local brand of clothing), and witnessed the Village Super (a grassroots football league) in Rongjiang County. They also visited the urban and rural planningmuseum in Gui’an New District, took a tour of the big data center, experienced the Huangguoshu Waterfall, the largest waterfall in Asia, in Anshun, and witnessed the engineering marvel of the Balinhe Bridge.

Nguyen Quyen, a Vietnamese social media blogger, shared his experiences and observations ofGuizhou on his social media accounts during his visit, showcasing the unique charm of the province to his overseas audience. This is my first time in Guizhou, and I am deeply impressed by its rich culture and rapid economic development, said Nguyen Quyen. As a social media blogger, I am very much lookingforward to seeing more cooperation opportunities between our two countries in the field of social media. In recent exchanges, we have discussed the possibility of future collaboration, including having social media bloggers from both countries co-create content to promote cultural exchange and creative sharing.
