Hunan Vocational Students Develop Innovative Wear-Resistant Parts Production Line, Secure 8 Patents
Changsha, Hunan Province, August 25, 2024 – A team of students from Hunan Industrial Vocational Technical College has developed an innovative intelligent brazing production line for wear-resistant parts used in engineering machinery, earning them eight patents and recognition for their ingenuity.
The project, titled Seamless Fit: The Leader in Large-Gap Brazing Technology, was inspired by the team’s observations during their practical training. Wear-resistant parts, though small in size, are crucial for transporting concrete, explained Zhong Jiahao, a student involved in the project. They are often the causeof breakdowns. The team’s meticulous work during training, coupled with their professors’ encouragement, played a key role in bringing their project to fruition.
The Welding Pioneers team, as they call themselves, identified a major pain pointin the current production of wear-resistant parts: outdated technology, difficult brazing processes, and low efficiency. To overcome these challenges, they embarked on a journey of research and development, focusing on innovative processes, structures, and equipment.
Their solution was a continuous, high-efficiency brazing process. To reducethe welding gap, we subdivided the structure, ultimately controlling the gap to less than 0.4 millimeters, achieving a seamless weld, explained Zhong Jiahao.
After over 230 trials and numerous design iterations, the team successfully developed their first product, Pioneer·Pumpway, which passed rigorous third-party testing. They have continued to refine their technology and develop new products, which are now being used by several engineering manufacturing companies in Changsha.
Their project, which won first place in the vocational track of the 2024 Hunan Provincial College Student Innovation Competition, highlights the potential of vocational education in driving technologicalinnovation. The team’s success demonstrates the power of practical experience, collaborative learning, and the dedication of both students and educators.
The students’ passion for innovation and their commitment to solving real-world problems is truly inspiring, said a professor at Hunan Industrial Vocational Technical College. Their project is a testament tothe talent and potential of vocational students.
The Welding Pioneers team’s success is a testament to the growing role of vocational education in China’s technological advancement. Their innovative production line not only addresses a critical need in the engineering machinery industry but also serves as a model for other vocational students seeking to make areal-world impact.
Their story is a reminder that innovation can come from unexpected places, and that with dedication and the right support, even seemingly small projects can have a significant impact.
