韩外交部:努力推动韩中关系健康成熟发展
首尔,2024年8月22日 – 在韩中建交32周年纪念日(8月24日)即将到来之际,韩国政府表示将努力推动两国关系朝着健康成熟的方向发展。
韩国外交部发言人李在雄22日表示,政府希望与中方共同努力,基于相互尊重和互惠互利的原则推动两国关系向着更加健康成熟的方向发展。
李在雄强调,韩中两国是重要的合作伙伴,在经贸、文化、科技等领域有着广泛的合作基础。近年来,两国关系取得了长足发展,但同时也面临着一些挑战。韩国政府将继续致力于加强与中国的沟通和协调,妥善处理分歧,推动两国关系持续健康发展。
此外,韩国政府还表示,将积极参与“一带一路”倡议,并与中国在应对气候变化、维护地区和平稳定等全球性议题上加强合作。
韩新冠疫情蔓延势头放缓 下周或迎拐点
韩国境内新冠住院病例增势有所放缓,防疫部门预测本轮疫情将在8月底达到顶峰后逐渐消退,高峰期单周确诊病例数或低于此前预测的35万例。
疾病管理厅针对220家医院级医疗机构进行的抽样监测结果显示,新冠住院病例数量自6月底逐周增加,但增幅自7月第四周(109.7%)以来持续收窄,8月第三周降至5.7%。
韩央行下调今年经济增长预期至2.4%
韩国银行22日将韩国今年国内生产总值(GDP)增长预期由5月的2.5%下调至2.4%,并将居民消费价格指数(CPI)涨幅预期下调至2.5%。
分析认为,央行此举或考虑到第二季度经济增速环比下滑0.2%、第三季度居民消费支出等内需指标未明显改善等因素。
SK掌门和其同居人被判赔偿女方精神损害20亿韩元
首尔家庭法院家事4部22日一审判处SK集团会长崔泰源和其同居人、T&C财团理事长金熙英(音)向崔泰源原配妻子、美术馆“蝴蝶艺术中心”馆长卢素英共同支付20亿韩元(约合人民币1067万元)的精神损害抚慰金。
卢素英方面去年3月以金熙英导致其与崔泰源的婚姻破裂,自己因此遭受严重的精神痛苦为由针对金熙英提起诉讼,要求金熙英赔偿精神损害抚慰金30亿韩元。

Seoul, August 22, 2024 – Ahead of the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomaticrelations between South Korea and China (August 24), the South Korean government has stated its commitment to fostering a healthy and mature development of bilateral ties.
Lee Jae-ung, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Tuesday that the government hopes to work with China to advance relations based on mutual respect and reciprocity, steering them towards a more healthy and mature path.
Lee emphasized thatSouth Korea and China are important partners, with a broad foundation for cooperation in areas such as trade, culture, and technology. While bilateral relations have witnessed significant progress in recent years, they also face certain challenges. The South Korean government remainsdedicated to strengthening communication and coordination with China, addressing differences effectively, and promoting sustained and healthy development of the relationship.
Furthermore, the South Korean government expressed its willingness to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and collaborate with China on global issues such as climate change and maintaining regional peace and stability.
South Korea’s COVID-19 Surge Slows, Potential Turning Point Next Week
The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in South Korea has shown signs of slowing down, with health officials predicting that the current wave will peak by the end of August and gradually subside. The peak weekly case count is expected to belower than the previously forecast 350,000.
Sampling monitoring conducted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) across 220 hospital-level medical institutions revealed that the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations has been increasing weekly since late June. However, the growth ratehas been steadily narrowing since the fourth week of July (109.7%), reaching 5.7% in the third week of August.
Bank of Korea Cuts 2024 Economic Growth Forecast to 2.4%
The Bank of Korea (BOK) on Tuesday lowered itsforecast for South Korea’s GDP growth this year to 2.4% from 2.5% in May. The central bank also revised down its forecast for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to 2.5%.
Analysts believe that the BOK’s decision reflects factors such as the 0.2% quarter-on-quarter decline in second-quarter economic growth and the lack of significant improvement in domestic demand indicators, including consumer spending in the third quarter.
SK Chairman and His Partner Ordered to Pay 2 Billion Won in Damages
The Seoul Family Court’s 4th Division of FamilyMatters on Tuesday ruled that SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and his partner, Kim Hee-young, the chairwoman of the T&C Foundation, should jointly pay 2 billion won (approximately 1.6 million USD) in compensation for emotional distress to Chey’s estranged wife, Noh So-young, the director of the Butterfly Art Center.
Noh filed a lawsuit against Kim last March, claiming that Kim’s relationship with Chey had led to the breakdown of their marriage, causing her severe emotional distress. She sought 3 billion won in damages from Kim.
