##A Feast of Robots: My Doubts About “Humanity”

**Keywords:** Robots, Exhibition, Questioning

**36Kr**

Recently, an exhibition showcasing the world’s most advanced robotics technology came to an end. From agile robotic arms to intelligent conversational robots, from biomimetic robotic dogsto self-driving cars, a dazzling array of technological marvels left attendees awestruck. However, after witnessing this technological feast, I found myself pondering the term”robot” anew, even harboring some doubts.

At the exhibition, many robots displayed remarkable capabilities, performing complex tasks and even engaging in simple conversations with humans. But upon closer inspection, you realize that these robots are largely executing pre-programmed instructions, lacking true autonomous thought and learning abilities. They are like sophisticated machines, capable of completing tasks according to instructions, but unable to comprehend the meaning behind those tasks, let alone engage in creative thinking and action like humans.

For instance, a conversational robot might be able to answer your questions and even engage in simple chat. However, it cannot understand the emotions behind your words, nor can it adjust its responses based on your mood. It is merely a program capable of mimicking human dialogue, not a true “person.”

Another example is arobot capable of painting. It might be able to create beautiful artwork based on your instructions. But it cannot understand the artistic vision you wish to convey, nor can it create based on its own inspiration. It is simply a tool capable of painting according to instructions, not a true artist.

While these robots possess powerful functions, they remain tools created by humans, not true “people.” They lack human intelligence, emotions, and creativity, unable to truly understand and experience the world.

This robot exhibition has given me a new understanding of the term “robot.” It no longer simply represents a machine, but rather embodies humanity’s aspirations forthe future. We hope that robots can help us solve various problems and improve our quality of life. However, we must also recognize that robots are merely tools; they cannot replace humans, nor can they substitute for human intelligence and emotions.

How should we interact with robots in the future? How can we utilize robotics technologyto create a brighter future? These questions deserve our serious consideration.
