柬埔寨学者谢莫尼勒,作为柬中关系发展学会的会长,长期致力于促进柬中民间交流。近日,他在接受中新社“东西问”专访时,讲述了柬中民间交流的故事。

谢莫尼勒表示,他从小受到外婆的影响,对孔子和儒家文化产生了浓厚兴趣。在大学期间,他专注于研究儒家思想,并出版了《孔子:中国的无冕之王》柬文版专著。他认为,儒家文化倡导以人为本,通过交流、理解、尊重来协调天下,这与柬中关系发展学会的宗旨不谋而合。

Chan Kim Nol, a Cambodian scholar and the president of the Cambodia-China Relations Development Society, has been actively engaged in promoting civilian exchanges between Cambodia and China. In an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency’s “East-West Question” program, he shared stories of civilian exchanges between Cambodia and China.

Chan Kim Nol said that from a young age, he was influenced by his grandmother, developing a strong interest in Confucius and Confucian culture. During his university years, he focused on the study of Confucian thought and published a special book on “Confucius: The Unofficial King of China” in the Cambodian language. He believes that Confucian culture advocates human-centeredness, resolving the world through communication, understanding, and respect, which is in line with the mission of the Cambodia-China Relations Development Society.

Chan Kim Nol also served as the foreign director of Cambodia’s first Confucius Institute, a role that gave him a profound understanding of the popularity of Chinese language in Cambodia. To meet the needs of Cambodian government officials for understanding Chinese culture and policies, he formed a research team to translate and publish numerous books introducing Chinese culture.
