Zi’an City, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, recently suffered from a catastrophic flood disaster, triggered by extreme rainfall brought by Typhoon “Gaoamei,” leading to frequent landslides and collapses, and severe damage to power supply, road infrastructure, and communication facilities. The disaster affected a population of 128,000 people.

Following the disaster, the provincial and municipal governments of Hunan and Chenzhou swiftly mobilized rescue forces. They successfully rescued and transferred 695 people, and urgently relocated 23,419 others. A total of 1,168 professional rescuers, including firefighters and paramilitary forces, 5 helicopters, and over 80 drones were deployed for search and rescue operations. Through various means, they searched a total of 344 kilometers of rivers and covered an area of 83.3 square kilometers.

After nearly 20 days of search and rescue efforts, it was confirmed that 50 people were killed and 15 remain missing. Efforts to locate the missing persons continue. Simultaneously, local governments and rescue teams quickly restored damaged infrastructure, ensuring that all administrative villages in the affected areas have access to roads, electricity, communication, and water.
