河南的生态保护工作也取得了显著成效。2023年，河南优良天数248.1天，生态质量指数(EQI)值为55.22，生态质量等级为“二类”，城市功能区声环境昼间、夜间达标率分别为95.8%、81.3%。划定1145个生态环境管控单元，新增“绿水青山就是金山银山”实践创新基地1个，国家生态文明建设示范区3个。2024年1—6月，河南省160个国控断面中，I~III类水质断面134个。
