Recently, the “Commemorating History, Uniting Hearts and Hands” Taiwan Youth Anti-Japanese War History Study Camp, sponsored by the Shanghai Huangpu Military Academy Alumni Association and the Shanghai Association for Promoting Peaceful Unification, and supported by the Chinese Youth Development Union in Taiwan, was successfully held in Shanghai. The camp lasted for five days and included 31 Taiwanese youth representatives.

At the opening ceremony, Zhou Yajun, President of the Shanghai Huangpu Military Academy Alumni Association and Vice President of the Shanghai Association for Promoting Peaceful Unification, stated that the purpose of organizing the study camp was to implement the “Youth Inheritance of the Huangpu Spirit” program, inviting Taiwanese youth to visit historical sites of the Anti-Japanese War in Shanghai and to experience firsthand the development and achievements of the mainland, thereby enhancing their understanding and awareness of the history of the Anti-Japanese War. He encouraged the Taiwanese youth to draw inspiration for the future from the history of the Anti-Japanese War, strengthen the consciousness of the Chinese nation community, and enhance cultural confidence in the Han culture, becoming communicators and disseminators of cross-strait integration development.

During the study camp, Taiwanese youth representatives visited historical sites such as the Shanghai Songhu Anti-Japanese War Memorial, the Site of the Yao Zixing Camp’s Sacrifice during the Anti-Japanese War, and the Shanghai Four Banks Warehouse Anti-Japanese War Memorial. Through on-site teaching, they gained a deeper understanding of the “August 13” Songhu Anti-Japanese War, which was the largest and most tragic in Chinese modern history. Many camp participants expressed that through实地参观, they had a more profound understanding and contemplation of the historical significance of the “August 13” Songhu Anti-Japanese War and the national spirit of the Chinese people’s unity and resistance against foreign aggression.

In addition, the study camp also arranged on-site teaching visits to places such as the Yangtze River Delta Deep-Water Port and COMAC, as well as round-table meetings with Taiwanese youth employees at well-known Taiwanese enterprises. Through these activities, the Taiwanese youth representatives not only felt the historical and cultural heritage and urban landscape of Shanghai personally, but also enhanced their awareness of national identity, cultural identity, and national identity.

The organizers stated that in the future, they will continue to help Taiwanese youth correctly understand the profound connotation of the history of the Anti-Japanese War and the spirit of the Anti-Japanese War through various forms of study activities, and continuously enhance exchanges and cooperation between young people on both sides of the Straits, contributing jointly to the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
