中海油研究总院工程研究设计院机电仪总师安维峥表示,该发电装置的应用预计将提升海上油气田主电站的综合能效7%,从而节省原油和天然气的消耗。据测算,该装置投用后,余热年发电量可达0.4亿千瓦时,满足3万户家庭的年用电需求,运行20年可累计节省天然气消耗约3亿立方米,减少二氧化碳排放约80万吨,相当于植树造林750万棵。

BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — Recently, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced the successful completion and delivery of the world’s first 5-megawatt-class offshore thermal efficiency power plant for waste heat from high-temperature flue gas in Tianjin. This innovative power plant will be applied in the development project of the Wenchang 9-7 oil field. The successful application of this technology marks a milestone in the green and low-carbon development of offshore oil fields under the “double carbon” goal.
Offshore platforms typically rely on the heat generated from the combustion of self-produced oil and gas to produce electricity. This process releases a large amount of high-temperature flue gas, which is a major source of carbon emissions in offshore oil and gas development. The newly delivered power plant can utilize this high-temperature flue gas, converting waste heat into clean electricity through the circulation of an organic working medium that drives an expander.
An Weiqing, Chief Engineer of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Division at the Engineering Research Institute of the CNOOC Research Institute, stated that the application of this power plant is expected to enhance the comprehensive energy efficiency of the main power station of offshore oil fields by 7%, thus saving the consumption of crude oil and natural gas. According to calculations, after the plant comes into operation, its annual waste heat electricity generation capacity will reach 40 million kilowatt-hours, sufficient to meet the annual electricity needs of 30,000 households. Over 20 years of operation, the plant is expected to save approximately 300 million cubic meters of natural gas consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 8 million tons, equivalent to planting 7.5 million trees.
