BEIJING, August 12, 2024 – Recently, the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) (referred to as the “Session”) deliberated and adopted the Opinions on Speeding up the Comprehensive Green Transformation of Socio-economic Development (referred to as the “Opinion”), marking the first systematic deployment of a comprehensive green transformation in China. The release of the Opinion signifies China’s commitment to accelerating the comprehensive green transformation of socio-economic development, aiming to promote high-quality economic development and achieve sustainable green development.
The Opinion sets out a series of specific objectives and measures aimed at achieving significant results by 2030 and fully entering the green low-carbon track by 2035, to achieve the goal of a beautiful China. In the energy sector, the Opinion proposes to increase the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption to around 25% by 2030, while the scale of the energy-saving and environmental protection industry will reach around 15 trillion yuan.
