Today, the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson issued a statement regarding the 77th World Health Assembly’s (WHA) rejection of a Taiwan-related proposal, reiterating the Chinese government’s stance and principles. The spokesperson emphasized that the one-China principle is a universal consensus of the international community and is clearly stipulated in the WHO’s (World Health Organization) purpose. Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, and its participation in global health affairs must be handled under the one-China principle.
The spokesperson pointed out that Taiwan’s inability to participate in the WHA since 2016 is the result of Taiwan’s insistence on its “Taiwan independence” separatist stance.
